There is no one-size-fits-all supplement protocol. Hydrolyzed Collagen benefits for skin,hair,joints,bone teeth etc. I’ve been following developments in the area for decades, and can say with confidence that you’ll have to try different things to see what works and what does not work.For example, people with inflammation get far less efficacy from tryptophan. And from 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP). This is because the human body is engineered to burn up tryptophan during an infection (it is one of four bacterial growth-limiting nutrients in the human blood stream), and the body cannot discriminate between infection-mediated inflammation and allergy-related inflammation. Any kind of inflammation induces indoleamine dioxygenase (IDO), an enzyme that catabolizes tryptophan and other indoleamines. So if this enzyme is active, any tryptophan you take will become substrate for IDO, and less will get across the blood-brain barrier to be converted into serotonin, for sleep enhancement. Furthermore, some of the catabolites of tryptophan are neurotoxic and excitotoxic. And I (we?) do not know what the catabolites of 5-HTP are.There is a trick to getting past IDO. Hydrolyzed Collagen for sleep,body benefits etc., for its glycine content, but there’s other amino-acid feature for collagen protein that is of relevance to sleep: low amounts of large neutral amino acids. This can be exploited by adding tryptophan to predigested collagen protein, which contains peptides that solublize tryptophan. So you get (1) pre-dissolved tryptophan, for fast absorption into the blood stream, and (2) decreased competition for tryptophan transport through the blood-brain barrier by other large neutral amino acids. It takes up to 30 minutes for tryptophan to dissolve in a solution of predigested (hydrolyzed) collagen, but once dissolved, the tryptophan absorbs exceedingly quickly when consumed on an empty stomach. This gives IDO less time to catabolize the supplemented tryptophan. This protocol will work for most conditions, inflammation is the start of every condition and disease, if it seems like medications don’t work on you or your resistance levels are obscene.Depth of the issue is going to be a battle. Doctors will dismiss you to the next and the never-ending nightmare will begin.Some people have circadian rhythm disturbances that interfere with aspects of sleep. Night owls, for example, have a phase delay in their circadian rhythms. So they are more likely to be metabolically acidic-aerobic-catabolic when going to sleep and make the transition to alkaline-anaerobic-anabolic metabolism during sleep. As a result, they are more likely to notice a sleep benefit from an alkalinizing (carb-rich, vegetable-rich) dinner. Morning larks are usually already alkaline-anaerobic-anabolic before they go to sleep. So sleep hygiene re-acid and alkalinizing can be quite divergent.Calcium sedates some people and alerts others, and magnesium tends to have opposite effects. This is a sleep variable that is often ignored.People with chronic hypothyroidism/hypometabolism are likely to have adrenal compensation. Bad taste but absolutely worth it!
Have to be honest that it’s a horrible taste for me so I take it with 4oz water instead of 8-12oz to drink quick. The benefits outweigh the taste so very happy with the product nonetheless and bulk affordable. I’d rather this over brands that add sweetners etc to make it more appealing. U either wanna be healthier or not is how I see it.

Flavorless in coffee
Add it to my coffee every morning for a protein boost. No flavor or color or texture added, just a little more of a “mouth feel”, like the coffee is creamier. Great price!

Quality has changed to worse
I have purchased this brand a few times, and it was ok- good and sturdy package, almost no aftertaste, and with some prolonged stirring it would eventually blend in. But this last order was like entirely different product – much thinner plastic bag, unpleasant taste AND odor, and even into a hot liquid it would turn into this slimy, smelly mush. I tried it even with cinnamon oatmeal and milk, bit it would overwhelm even that strong spice. I cannot even return it, since it’s open, so I will have to throw it away and switch to another brand. Very disappointed.

Tastes Like Cow hide
This product is definitely solid collagen. Great price for the amount.That being said, the flavor is pretty bad. It’s not flavorless, it’s unflavored, meaning the natural flavor is somewhat preserved. What might that taste like, you should ask?Leather. Even with a fairly strong flavored powder mixed in, I still taste leather fairly significantly. It’s pretty disgusting, and almost made me puke the first time.Nevertheless, the quality and function of the collagen is true to form. It’s just the flavor that will likely keep me from purchasing this specific product again.
